‘6 Underground’ Netflix: Everything we know so far

Ryan Reynolds and Michael Bay are teaming up to make the movie 6 Underground. It will be available on Netflix at the end of 2019. Here’s everything you need to know about the movie including who’s starring, what it’s about and all the details from set.

6 Underground is just one of the two major movies lined up this Christmas. It will release around the same time as Netflix’s The Irishman by Martin Scorcese although this particular title has a budget much bigger. It’s aiming to replicate the success of Bright from a couple of years ago in terms of budget and audience.

What’s the movie 6 Underground about?

This action thriller is about six billionaires who form an elite vigilante team after they pretend their death.

It's a little like The Italian Job with Bad Boys and The Fast and Furious.

Netflix only has one tag for the movie so far and that’s “exciting”.

It was announced for the first time in May 2018, and filming began shortly thereafter. The movie is produced by the same studio as Grace and Frankie, which was released on Netflix.

Who’s directing 6 Underground for Netflix?

The king of explosions takes the reign of 6 Underground and we’re of course referring to Michael Bay. The controversial director is known for his impressive back library, with Transformers being the most popular, but he also worked on titles such as Bad Boys, Armageddon and The Purge.

Ryan Reynolds is the main star of this movie. According to Netflix, Reynolds is being paid $27 million by Netflix for his role in the movie. This makes him the most highly-paid actor in 2019.

Is Six Underground still being filmed in the same location?

Three countries were used for filming, with California being one of them. Many filming was done in Italy, with Puglia and Rome all being listed as locations. Some filming was also done in the United Arab Emirates.

Six Underground was actually completed in December 2018. This means Netflix had been planning for this movie for years.

Some of the scenes in Florence can be seen. It appears that the filming took place in Italy during the latter part of 2018

The production was filmed in Itlay and there are hundreds of photos available online that were taken during 2018.

• It’s been shot in 4K so expect the explosions and car sequences to be extra crisp
• It is Michael Bay’s first movie for any streaming service
• The movie had a giant budget of $150 million making it the most expensive in Netflix’s history. The previous record was with The Irishman (120M), and Bright (90M-$100M).
