Avatar: The Last Airbender is currently number one on Netflix after just a few days. It's also the most watched TV series in America.
It’s rare for licensed titles to hit the top of the charts but it’s especially nice to see Avatar: The Last Airbender hit the top spot given Netflix’s vested interest in the future of the franchise.
It rose to number one on Netflix US in May 2019, 2020. Since then, it has been at number 1.
Netflix US acquired the series for its May 15, 2020 release. Nickelodeon's Nickelodeon Kids series aired its first episode back in 2005. We mentioned that Netflix has a vested interest in bringing a series of live action shows to the network.
Dead to Me has been knocked off the number one spot by the series. The US-based list, along with other countries, is now at its highest position since the second season was released in 2020.
Since May 20, the series is at the top on the charts.
The series is not enjoying the same popularity in other countries, despite its surge in America. In most regions, they’ve been streaming Avatar: The Last Airbender but we did wonder whether an uptick in conversation on social media would raise the shows profile internationally. This does not appear to be true.
Of course, this will likely raise calls for Netflix to pick up the later series The Legend of Korra which isn’t currently streaming on Netflix. Netflix’s NX account did at least acknowledge it existed in the past week however.
Our Most Popular Pages updates every 2 hours and shows you all of the Netflix top-rated titles in each region. We’ll be adding more features to it over time including ways of going back in time to see what was popular and hopefully track the popularity of individual shows.
Do you feel happy that Avatar:The Last Airbender has risen to the top on Netflix US? We'd love to hear from you in the comments.
