Classic ‘Knight Rider’ Show & Movie Coming to Netflix in December 2021

We have the December 2021 Netflix Release List. One surprise is that Netflix will receive all four seasons, including the classic NBC series Knight Rider starring David Hasselhoff. The movie and all four seasons will be available on Netflix USA starting December 1, 2021.

The classic NBC series that aired from 1982 to 1986 may be unfamiliar to those who were born between the 1990s and today. Knight Rider starred David Hasselhoff, who played Michael Knight. Knight Knight was a criminal-fighter who drove his highly advanced car, KITT.

Glen A. Larson created the series and went on to work for 20th Century Fox after Knight Rider. Larson was known for his huge series like The Hardy Boys and Battlestar Gallactica.

As of this writing, the series can be viewed on the NBC App in its entirety (not Peacock as that would seem bizarre), and Starz. It’s unclear whether the series will depart these services in favor of going exclusive on Netflix (it likely won’t).

The question that you might be asking is, "How long will Knight Rider remain on Netflix?" Well, that’s not clear. We’ve seen a lot of licenses to Netflix to be over shorter periods in recent years as providers look to gain more control over their properties. Our best guess right now is that Netflix will have the show for a year or two but don’t be surprised if it’s shorter.

Knight Rider 2000 will be available as part of this drop. It drops on December 1. The movie will be available on Netflix US from November 3.

However, Netflix licensing could just be a way to drum up interest for a highly rumored reboot. Hasselhoff confirmed this over the summer. TJ Fixman wrote the script, Spyglass Media produced and James Wan was producing. This was August 2020. This could be a sign that the movie will only come to Netflix. We will see.

Do you look forward to Christmas spent with your Hoff? Comment below to let us know your thoughts.
