Demon Slayer Season 2 Episode 7, Spoilers

The ticket collector stabs Tanjirou in episode 6. He is trying to stop Enmu. The Demon Slayer, however, doesn't attack him but knocks him out. He tries to defend him against the lower-rank demon who wants to save his neck. However, all of his attempts to attack him fail as Tanjirou (and Inosuke) manage to cut his throat. Enmu being decapitated by Tanjirou, the Mugen train derails and all compartments are dissolved, inflicting injuries on passengers as well as Tanjirou.

He focuses his attention on his wound, and Rengoku helps him to use the technique properly. Akaza, an Akaza of the highest rank third demons, arrives just as he's barely recovering. Tanjirou runs after him immediately and tries killing him. But the Flame Hashira cuts through his hand with his Katana. The counterattack is insignificantly bothersome to the demon, who immediately regenerates.

Akaza admires Rengoku's inner strength. He asks the Demon Slayer if he would like to emulate him. The Flame Hashira insists that the Demon Slayer cannot gain immortality nor the strength of demons. She argues that life's meaning is not lost through the temporary existence of humans and that it should be regarded as weakness. Both begin to fight and quickly realize Akaza's superiority in combat to Rengoku. Rengoku can barely hurt Akaza.

As the Flame Hashira continues to attack Flame Hashira, it seems that each attack is proving to him that human life has a short lifespan. In Episode 7, Rengoku fights back against the higher rank demon despite being heavily dominated. However, Rengoku will ultimately die before Tanjirou or Inosuke who are too weak.
