Derry Girls, a British comedy show that has been popular in Britain has aired its second episode and is now available on Netflix internationally. Here’s what you need to know about season 2 of Derry Girls coming to Netflix on August 2nd, 2019.
This comedy, which is highly rated in Northern Ireland, was written by Lisa McGee. It follows a group friends who grow up at an all-girls Catholic girls' school.
Netflix acquired Derry Girls in 2013 and distributed it to most regions as a Netflix Original. The United Kingdom doesn’t see it as an Original title but does have the show streaming.
Six episodes comprise season 2 of Derry Girls. The second season begins with Derry Girls attending an outdoor pursuits weekend. The girls also attend a prom in 50s Belfast and watch a Christmas episode.
Season 2 aired on Channel 4 UK from March 2019 to April 2019.
Netflix is expecting a busy August with Ask the Storybots S3 and Derry Girls S2 arriving simultaneously. There will also be big returns throughout the month, including Mindhunter or GLOW.
Netflix UK won’t be getting the next season of Derry Girls in August. Season 1 is due to release on Netflix UK in July 2019 and we probably shouldn’t expect season 2 to arrive until at least 2020.
We’ve got good news regarding the future of Derry Girls on Netflix too. Season 3 is already in production and, although there has not yet been an official release date, it's easy to assume that it will be online sometime around 2020.
