‘Hache’ Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix, 2020 Release

Only a few weeks ago, Spanish drama Hache was added to Netflix's season 2 list. Here’s what you need to know about the renewal and what we can expect from the new season.

This Spanish-language thriller forms part of an aggressive push to increase viewership in Spain. Netflix's titles like Elite and Money Heist have had great success in Spain as well as internationally. A new Netflix production center was established in Madrid, Spain. This announcement came on April 19, 2019.

Hache takes place in 1960s Barcelona, where Helena infiltrates the cartel to discover their secrets. The cartel leader must love and trust her.

Although Netflix hasn’t released any stats regarding the success of the show, we do know it has performed well with critics and audiences. The IMDb index ranked it at 156, which is quite impressive for a Spanish-language series.

On November 1, 2018, Season 1 (eight episodes) of Hache was available on Netflix worldwide.

The announcement of season 2 of Hache came via a Tweet from Netflix’s Spanish social accounts. This roughly translates into:

“The “damn the teacher and damn the apprentice” thing to #Hache falls short. The second season arrives in 2020.”

Season 2: What are we to expect? Season 1 wrapped up with Hache taking out vengeance with Malpica’s betrayer imprisoned and tortured.

We know from Diezminutos that Season 2 will feature Hache at the top of the crime enterprise, and that there could be a resurrection of Javier Rey.

For the moment, that’s all we know about season 2 of Hache coming to Netflix at some point in 2020. Our best guess is that we’ll see Hache arrive in roughly a similar release window as season 1, so around October to December 2020.
