Spike Lee’s revival of his 1986 movie seems to have gone well for season 1 with the series receiving good reviews from critics and fans alike. Will Netflix be giving She’s Gotta Have It a second season? We’ve got the renewal status below plus a prediction on when the release date for season 2 will be.
Spike Lee, who was not only the showrunner in season 1, but also the series' director, created the series. Many agreed that Spike Lee still has the ability to tell a compelling and modern story. It gives a modern take on the indie-hit and explores the relationships of Nola Darling. The soundtrack features hits from all three decades.
This series can be instantly compared with Dear White People, which was also remade from a film into a television series. She’s Gotta Have It had the biggest jump to take thanks to the movie releasing over three decades ago.

Official Renewal Status: Renewed (Updated: 01/03/2018)
A day after we posted this article about the show not being renewed for a second season, it was announced to be renewed – typical!
The show’s creator announced the renewal on New Year’s day exclaiming ‘there’s going to be a second season!’. Obviously, there was no date for the release and production has not started.

Season 2 will be released in a relatively short time. Spike Lee has released films every year for decades. Television series, while longer, have an easier turnaround. This means that season 2 will drop in November 2018, meaning the series follows an annual schedule.
In the meantime, if you’ve just seen the series without seeing the movie, you’re missing out. As of right now, it’s streaming in the majority of Netflix regions via this link.
