Is ‘Castle’ on Netflix?

The question as to whether Castle is streaming on Netflix has become a bigger one in recent months as the highly respected Castle has now been cancelled after 8 long seasons. We’re going to take a look at whether it’s streaming on Netflix in any region and whether or not we think the show is on the cards for a Netflix appearance in the future.

Since 2009, the ABC series has been on air and ended in 2016. It aired for 8 seasons. It is known for its charming cast. The crime/comedy drama featured Richard Castle (played by Nathan Fillion) and a NYPD detective who work together to solve uncommon crimes in New York City.

The show won a lot of awards and it was obvious that the 9th season was going to be a success. Most of the cast signed up for the final season. ABC did not.

Now that the series has been concluded it could come to Netflix as years progress and the license inevitably loses its value overtime as it’s not in the spotlight as much so what are the prospects of it joining Netflix. Well they’re better than say a year or two ago but still fairly slim.

ABC has taken Castle off streaming services. There are only a handful of episodes on Hulu Plus, and they have no other available. Streaming Castle is almost impossible right now.

Is there a chance of Castle being re-released on Netflix? Again fairly slim, even though the cast is ready to go with contracts signed you’d still need a fairly significant investment to not only acquire the old series but to fund the production of a ninth. That’s some I don’t personally think Netflix has within its budget especially if it is only for a sign-off series.

Castle has been removed from every Netflix region. ABC also values this license internationally.

If anything changes, we’ll be sure to let you know but at the moment it does look like Castle will remain missing on the Netflix library.
