Sword Art Online has returned in 2018 for its third season. It took a while. Sword Art Online has become a popular anime series and is one of Netflix's most watched. Subscribers are now curious when Sword Art Online season 3 will arrive on Netflix. Sorry to disappoint, but the third season isn’t currently on Netflix, but we’re here to tell you why, where you can stream the season and the likelihood of it coming to Netflix.

Sword Art Online: Alicization, a Japanese anime series that is based on Reki Kawahara's Sword Art Online light books. Alicization, which aired from October 2018 through May 2019, is the third season of this franchise. Kirito becomes comatose after being confronted in real life by an old enemy. Upon awakening, Kirito discovers that he's been back to Underworld. Kirito is left with no choice but to flee Underworld and embarks on a journey to get back into the real world.

Why Sword Art Online season 3 isn’t streaming on Netflix US

Netflix subscribers have been able to stream Sword Art Online online for years. Sword Art Online 2 was the previous season. It premiered on Netflix in 2015, after it had been aptly titled.

Even though Netflix has been streaming the series for years, this doesn’t mean they have the license to stream the latest season. The license for Sword Art Online season 3 is split amongst Crunchyroll, FUNimation, and Hulu.

You will need to subscribe to Crunchyroll, FUNimation, or Hulu to watch Sword Art Online season 3. The next arc of Sword Art Online arrives in October and new episodes will be available to stream on Saturday’s.

However, I was notified by Netflix that Sword Art Online had a new season.

If you receive a notification that Sword Art Online has released a new season on Netflix, be warned, it isn’t Sword Art Online season 3. Netflix removed Sword Art Online 2 from its original title, and instead combined the first and second seasons.

Sword Art Online 2 is still available to stream on Netflix.

Will Sword Art Online season 3 ever come to Netflix?
