Netflix has made a series of live-action adaptations of one the most unusual mangas. Coming to Netflix in 2022 is He’s Expecting, a story set in a world where men can also get pregnant. He’s Expecting is an upcoming Japanese Netflix Original series based on the manga Hiyama Kentarou no Ninshin by author Sakai Eri. Yuko Kakoda will co-direct the series with Takeo Kikuchi. The series will be produced by Netflix. Production is handled by TV Tokyo, Aoi Pro.

Yuriko Mamiya (TV Tokyo), Yu Ota (TV Tokyo), and Tsutomu Hirabayashi (AOI Pro) are listed as producers on the series, with Shinichi Takahashi, Netlfix’s content acquisition manager as the executive.

As a pregnant man, Kentaro will face the scrutiny of the company and society, and will shed light on the hardships experienced by pregnant women. Challenged by many problems associated with modern pregnancy and childbirth, the two will have to face reality and make the ultimate decision: to have a baby or not.

At the time of writing, only two cast members have been confirmed for He’s Expecting. Saitoh Takumi, Ueno Juri will play the roles of the lead characters in the series.

Saitoh Takumi – Hiyama Kentarou

Saitoh Takumi portrays the title role of Hiyama Kentarou, the pregnant.

Takumi started acting in 2001 when he was cast as the main role in Toki no Kaori - Remember Me. He has appeared in many projects over the last twenty years. This year, Shin Ultraman will be his most prominent role. It marks the 55th anniversary for the Ultra Series.

Ueno Juri – Seto Aki

Ueno Juuri, a Japanese actress portraying Seto Aki's role is the one she plays. Juri, like her co-star in the film, has been acting since 2000 and has played many roles. This has earned her a lot of respect and popularity. Juri is best known for her role as the Good Doctor in Japan. The American adaptation has been hugely successful.
