Locke & Key will return for a second season on March 30, 2020, it was announced. Locke & Key promised to return for a second season with more demons, keys, and most importantly, aloha.
Our sources, which provide production schedules for the series, indicate that the series was already in development for the second season shortly after its first release. Filming is expected to continue in Toronto, Canada. We will be discussing production schedules shortly.
During the Locke & Key press tour, Meredith Averill (showrunner) and Carlton Cuse (creator), spoke out about their plans for a second series. That includes an interview with Gamespot where the creators said: “We’re writing Season 2, even though it hasn’t been greenlit. We’re working in a room,”

This series ends with the siblings entering the most deadly door and ending with them being the key keeper. Dodge appears to have gotten away with giving it the impression that Dodge died, or at least was defeated cold in the last climactic fight. While the omega key has been found, it is not yet secure.
We’re expecting the show to continue sticking with the comics for its main story arc but it has been mentioned that it could diverge with the creators saying: “We want to be sure that the ending works for the TV series and we’re not just forcing ourselves into an ending for endings’ sake.”
When asked about changes in the Netflix series, Joe Hill said: ” It has to work as a TV show. It has to succeed in the possibilities and limitations of its own particular form.”.
Locke & Key Season 2 cast will remain largely unchanged, but there will be new faces.

Yep. Locke & Key's future is secured with a third season ordered already and production currently underway as of May 20,21. We have heard rumors of a fourth season but it’s possibly a little too early for that. We’re also thrilled that The Sandman is coming to Netflix which could leave the door wide open to a special one-off series/movie based on the comic book crossover.
In addition to a third season, the co-showrunner for Locke & Key, Meredith Averill, also signed an overall deal with Netflix.
We’ve even heard that season 4 is in the works but not officially confirmed just yet.
Netflix will be the streaming destination for IDW comics fans, as it has an outgoing deal with the comic publisher. They’ve already produced V Wars and October Faction (both of which have been sadly canceled however). You can also currently catch their other series Wynonna Earp and Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency on Netflix too.
IDW Entertainment has several series under development, including Winterworld. This has been reportedly optioned. Darkness Visible, Night Mary and other series are also in development. However, details are still limited.
