Netflix will be releasing Love, Death & Robots season 2. Predicting its arrival has proved difficult. However, a leaky trailer and an official announcement by Netflix have confirmed that the second season is on schedule for May 2021. Below, we’ll be cataloging everything we know about season 2 including who’s involved and what we can expect.
Love, Death & Robots, a Netflix Original Sci-Fi Series, was created by Tim Miller, and is produced by David Fincher.
Each story had its own animation and story. The 18 stories were part of the series. The internet was abuzz with excitement within hours after the release of the bizarre and unusual series. Some have already dubbed the series as ‘The Black Mirror of animation,’ which tells you everything you may already need to know.
The series pushes animation's boundaries with its wide range of stories, graphic violence and sexuality. The series was also one of the first for Netflix to experiment with episode orders (although that wasn’t without controversy).
Official Renewal Status. Renewed for Volume 2 (Last Updated on 06/10/2019).
Netflix revealed that the series will be back for volume 2 on June 10, 2019. It used only clips from previous seasons in its promo video for the new series.
We also learned from THR that Jennifer Yuh Nelson (director of Kung Fu Panda 3), is joining the team for season 2 as the supervising director.
We’re still not sure on what studios are set to return for new episodes. Some studios featured on the first season were Blur Studio, Blow Studio and Red Dog Culture House. Sony Picture Imageworks is also confirmed. Passion Animation Studios, Sun Creature Studio are just a few of many.
In February 2020, Inverse managed to score an interview with one of the composers, Rob Cairns who gave an insight into the development of season 2 saying: “I’ve seen a couple of the Season 2 scripts and have started discussions with directors and started playing with sound,”.
We’ve predicted 2021 for a while but thanks to a leaked trailer that was put onto Netflix (seen embedded below), we foresaw be seeing it added within a few weeks to months.
Netflix now has the trailer posted on YouTube. It also announced the release date via its social media channels. We can now confirm that Love, Death & Robots “volume 2” is coming to Netflix on Friday, May 14th, 2021.
Our first poster and still for Volume 2 was also received.
First of all, go and check out the “inside the animation” special on YouTube. There you can see Tim Miller’s thoughts on the show and gives some insights into the series production.
Rob Cairns said that an official soundtrack to Love, Death & Robots is in development, but not anything official. He’s instead posted a few of the songs on his website.
And finally, for the love of god please go and follow Netflix’s most obscure social account. It is the Yoghurt episode and it remains active, despite having a very small following.
