Netflix USA will end all seasons of Mad Men in June 2020. Here’s why it’s potentially leaving, where it could be heading and more.
Mad Men is available on Netflix USA since April 14, 2015, with new episodes arriving each year. It’s one of the oldest licensed shows still remaining on Netflix in the States.
It is one of the most outstanding period dramas ever made and almost doesn't need to be introduced. We follow the story of an advertising agency located in Manhatten in 1960s and all the characters who work there.
The show’s main star was played by Jonn Hamm but also featured a huge cast including Elisabeth Moss, Christina Hendricks, Kiernan Shipka, January Jones, Bryan Batt, Aaron Staton and more. This drama won numerous awards and was often considered the best in 21st century drama.
Australians are already witnessing Mad Men leave their services. The rest of the globe is expected to follow soon, but we now know that the United States will be next.
The seven seasons, which span 92 episodes in total, will be leaving Netflix USA on June 10, 2020. They’re also set to leave Netflix UK on June 9th, 2020.
Removal date show on Mad Men – Picture: Screenshot/Netflix
In September 2019, we reported the first time that Mad Men might leave Netflix in 2020. THR reported that Lionsgate would be shopping the show to other streamers (including Netflix again) and although no home has been announced, it does look like it’s losing its current home.
Netflix could decide to renew, in which case the date of removal will be lifted and the series will stream. However, that’s unlikely and in most cases when titles get removal dates they tend to be permanent.
It’s going to be another rough year for series leaving Netflix. In October, Parks and Recreation is set to leave and we just got word over the weekend that That ’70s Show is due to come up for renewal in Q4 2020 too.
However, we do have some good news. Janet Leahy, one of the creators of the show is now onboard with Pico & Sepulveda which will be a Netflix original from Shondaland.
Do you think Mad Men will be missed once more? Or if the series ends in June 2020, when Netflix is expected to discontinue it entirely? We'd love to hear from you in the comments.
