Review Ethan / 2023-02-22 04:07:41

We have heard you. Manifest will be returning for a fourth season on Netflix, which includes 20 episodes. Here’s what we know so far about the Manifest revival at Netflix.

Before we dig into the revival and how it came to pass, here are a few key details about Netflix’s final season:

  • The fourth season will contain 20 episodes, but they aren't expected to be released all at once. will release in 2 or more parts as we’ve seen with shows like Lucifer or the upcoming final season of Ozark.
  • The fourth season of Netflix's series will be available only globally.
  • Netflix will be acquiring global rights for the three previous seasons. (More information in a separate article).
  • Season 4 is the last season of Manifest.
  • There is no production plan.
  • Jeff Rake will still be showrunning for the last season.
  • Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke are the executive producers of this season's new season. Jacqueline Levine and Len Goldstein also serve as producer.

So with the good news (albeit bittersweet) out of the way, let’s dig into how we got to this point and what we can expect storywise from the new season.

Season 4 on Netflix: The Road to Manifest

It was a quick, but not unexpected trip to get here.

Throughout season 3 of Manifest airing on NBC, there were consistent rumors of the show being canceled as NBC axed a large number of its shows this season including the likes Debris, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, and Good Girls.

We were informed by Netflix that the series with the seasons 1-2 was to be added to the streaming service on June 10, 2021, just a day before it was scheduled to air on NBC.

Shortly thereafter, NBC decided not to renew it. Warner Brothers reportedly said that they called it quits on renewing the show somewhere else on June 21st 2021.

We originally posted that we thought the show wouldn’t be able to be picked up due to complex licensing issues and the fact Netflix has largely got out of the revival game (although we’re happy we were wrong).

Next came dominance of the show on Netflix's top 10s, and any other data that we could get.

This show is second to CoComelon in the Netflix TV Top 10s for 2021.

We can also track performance by looking at US Nielsen Top 10 Data. It has dominated Nielsen’s Top 10 SVOD Programs list for weeks now racking up 12,221 million minutes of viewing time.

Below you can see the graph of the Nielsen data over time although it’s worth noting their data doesn’t yet cover the release of the third season.

Although the show was not in the top 10, it quickly recovered after being added to Netflix US's third season on August 21, 2021. The third season of Netflix Canada will be available at the end August.

Mid-July 2021 Jeff Rake, showrunner for The Walking Dead, stated on Twitter that he wasn't giving up.

Nellie Andreeva, a Deadline reporter reported that negotiations with Netflix had been ongoing throughout this time. On August 18, it was revealed that new contracts were being made with the writers and cast.

Fans from all over the globe rallied around the show, whether it was the thousands of posts on social media or the many petitions that included close to 100,000 signatures.

We know now that the negotiations were successful, and all is well in history.

Netflix revives Manifest's reaction

We’ll keep this section updated with reactions from the cast and crew as and when we get them.

Jeff Rake was the Showrunner for Manifest.

“What started years ago as a flight of fancy deep in my imagination has evolved into the jet engine journey of a lifetime. Never in my wildest dreams could I have envisioned the worldwide outpouring of love and support for this story, its characters, and the team who work so hard to bring it all to life. That we will be able to reward the fans with the ending they deserve moves me to no end. On behalf of the cast, the crew, the writers, directors, and producers, thank you to Netflix, to Warner Bros., and of course to the fans. You did this.”
