‘Mindhunter’ Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

Review Ethan / 2022-11-24 06:44:40

Mindhunter was first available on Netflix over a year back and made quite an impression. Many fans have been asking when Mindhunter season 2 will return. Here’s everything we know so far for Mindhunter season 2.

Mindhunter, a crime drama that is set in late 1970s during the early days criminal profiling at the FBI and criminal psychology. This series follows the adventures of FBI agents Bill Tench and Holden Ford. They set out to interview mass murderers convicted of their crimes in order to understand what drove them and learn more from them so that they can apply the lessons to other cases.

The shows take inspiration from the true crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit. John E. Douglas, Mark Olshaker wrote the book. John, a former FBI agent was the inspiration for Holden Ford the character agent. Charlize and David Fincher are the executive producers. They are both well-known for making movies about serial killers.

Was there anything that happened after the conclusion of Season 1

Without him realizing it, agent Holden’s work interviewing serial killers had begun changing him as a person. He is no longer the shy, unconfident, and clean agent he was. Instead, he is now a more confident, arrogant, and darker Holden. After learning a lot from interviews, Holden started to solve more cases. This only fueled his ego. As his ego grew ever higher he was accused of abhorrent behavior in the Gene Deviers case by Director Wendy. His own partner Tench even had his own words to say about Holden’s behavior:

“If what we’re doing doesn’t get under your skin, you’re either more messed up than I thought or you’re lying to yourself.”

Thinking he was immune to the toll of the interviews as he coerced and ‘befriended’ the killers for more information it wasn’t until his final confrontation with Ed Kemper that hit Holden with the realization just how little control he has resulting in a Nervous breakdown.

He was not able to kill his victim, so he burned the notes he made on him and the property of the victims.

How will season 2 unfold?

After Kemper's confrontation, it is likely that we will be seeing a nervouser Holden. Having had a nervous breakdown we won’t be seeing the same arrogant and confident agent we had before but a more guarded and cautious. With the break up between him and his partner Debbie we’ll most likely see a more vulnerable Holden. It remains to be seen if they can reconcile.

As they continue to conduct criminal profiling research, the interview of killers will be the main focus. Between these interviews, Tench and Holden will both be assigned to solve potential cases of serial murders. Holden, who is based upon real FBI agent John E. Douglas, is well-known to have spoken to Charles Manson. We can expect Manson's appearance in this season. Billboard has revealed that the Atlanta Child Murders will feature in one of their narratives.

Den of Geek has reported from The Hashtag Show the list of serial killers rumored to be in the next season. We shall reveal the names of the killers but we won’t list their crimes below. These are the suspects.

  • Charles Manson
  • Elmer Wayne Henley
  • Paul Bateson
  • David Berkowitz, The Son of Sam
  • Wayne Williams
  • William Pearce Jr.
  • William Henry Hance

The ADT killer is likely to make an appearance and once he starts racking up the numbers of victims it won’t be long before he attracts the attention of agents Holden and Tench.
