Netflix acquired international streaming rights for another Turkish-language drama. The Yard will premiere on Netflix October 18, 2019, with the first episode. Here’s what we know about the series and why you should be excited.
The Yard has been released internationally, but the series is known in Turkey as Avlu. The series airs on Stars, and there have been three seasons since 2018. The series has produced 54 episodes so far.
Over the years, Netflix has enjoyed a lot of success with prison dramas. Orange is the New Black is the most obvious and ran seven seasons. There were spin-offs. Wentworth, an Australian pick-up that is still a big show on Netflix, is also popular. Locked Up, a Spanish prison drama series is also very popular.
The Yard tells the story of a harsh prison run by inmates.
Here’s how Netflix describes the new show:
After a fateful domestic clash, a devoted mother finds herself in prison and fighting to survive in hopes of reuniting with her daughter.

Both! Netflix offers many options. The audio can be switched to English, or you can listen in Turkish with English subtitles. Spanish, Arabic and Portuguese are also available as dubs.
It doesn’t look like Netflix will be showing all three released seasons straight away instead, splitting them up into parts. It will show 11 episodes on October if it follows its usual convention. Additional episodes will be released in the months that follow. We’ll cover more on the release schedule once part 1 has released onto the service.
A fourth season of the show has already been commissioned too meaning we’ll have plenty more episodes to come for this new prison drama.
