New Netflix Original Film ‘Wheelman’

On October 20th Netflix is releasing a new Original title under the name ‘Wheelman’. This action-thriller will feature Frank Grillo as a getaway driver and many other great cars.

If you are an Action fan who liked The Transporter you should be in for a treat with this new Netflix Original. A no-nonsense getaway driver played by Frank Grillo slowly comes to the conclusion that he has been double-crossed during a daring bank robbery, and now must do all he can to save the ones he loves. The tagline “One more drive, then he’s out.” might sound a little corny and non-original, but from the trailer, it definitely looks interesting and if you love films like Drive, Speed and Bullitt it’s a no-brainer. Another ‘Man and his car’ film that did quite well recently was the hit film Baby Driver starring Ansel Elgort.

Netflix clearly sees the car trend as a profit center. This is a great thing if we can get an amazing car movie. For those hardcore car fans, it appears that Frank’s character is driving an old BMW E46, and we even get a slight glimpse of a Porsche.

Jeremy Rush directed the film. This is Rush's first feature film production and his largest work. Don’t fear though, some of the shorts he’s directed have been received well, and we’re sure Netflix has made a great choice.

Frank Grillo is a lead actor. You might recognize him from a variety of things including Kingdom TV Series, in which he portrays a former MMA fighter. He has also stared in the Captain America films, along with The Purge: Anarchy. Frank is no stranger to gritty roles which makes him perfect for such a project.

It’s clear from the trailer that the film is quite serious and gritty compared with some other action films released this year, a lot of which are tilting towards more comedic aspects. It’s a title that should not be overlooked come October 20th.
