‘Over the Moon’ Coming to Netflix October in 2020

Netflix recently announced Over the Moon, an animated movie that will debut this fall. John Cho, Cathy Ang and Sandra Oh will be the voice actors in this exciting movie. Over the Moon, a Netflix-Pearl Studio animated musical collaboration is in development. Glen Keane is the director of the feature. The story was created by Audry Wells, Jennifer Yee McDevitt and Jennifer Yee McDevitt. Wells, sadly, passed away in October 2018, which lead to McDevitt completing Wells’ vision for the story.

Glen Keane's animation background aside, Over the Moon was his first feature-length animated film. He is known for his work in the animated industry dating back to the 1970s. His credits include numerous Disney titles such as The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast as well as Aladdin and Tangled.

Is Over the Moon a plot?

Enamored by the story of the legendary moon goddess that’s trapped on the moon, teenager Fei Fei builds her own rocketship in an attempt to meet her. They discover a magical mythical world with their faithful pet Rabbit, as well as the stowaway Chin. The search begins for the goddess.

Over the Moon will feature eight songs, it has been confirmed.

One of the songs, ‘Rock to Moon’, performed by Cathy Ang, has been described by director Glen Keane as “the heart of the musical.”

At the time of writing, the full soundtrack hasn’t yet been announced.
