UPDATE: Since then, the campaign has attracted 30,000 supporters.
The year 2016 saw some major TV cancellations, ranging from Castle to Nashville. One of the other shows that quietly got cancelled was MTV’s Faking It and now fans of the show are turning to both MTV and Netflix to either continue or revive the show.
The shortlived MTV show only managed to get three seasons before receiving the axe in 2016. It debuted on MTV in 2014. The show is widely considered groundbreaking for its approach to sexuality. As the show's main characters, Rita Volk and Katie Stevens starred alongside Gregg Sulkin.
The show cannot be streamed on Netflix at the moment. However, now that the series is over, there are more chances of Faking It streaming via Netflix.
In just two weeks, the main petition had nearly 25,000 signatures. The petition states: ‘As a fan of show mtv just announced today that faking it will not give the show faking it another season to allow Amy and karma be together.’
It is uncertain if the show can be revived. TVline believes it won't, as MTV holds the rights and not Carter Covington. This means Netflix will have to get all the cast onboard for a new season and also buy MTV's license.
MTV has to cancel the show because of falling viewership and the fact that Scream is still the main draw for the network.
The tweet above gives some solace to fans of the show stating that even if the show doesn’t find a new home, he will reveal what he had planned for the show which still isn’t the best scenario but at this point, it’s better than nothing.
