Shadow and Bone has quietly been renewed and will return to Netflix for its second season. Eric Heisserer created the fantasy drama series.
This source has previously informed us about the renewal orders of Ozark, Fate; The Winx Club, and Warrior Nun, all of which have since been confirmed. We have also announced renewed orders for Umbrella Academy and Space Force.
Eric Heisserer and 21 Laps Entertainment have created Shadow and Bone, a fantasy series that will stream on Netflix. On April 23rd, 2021, the first season will be available on Netflix worldwide.
The Grisha trilogy, beginning with Shadow and Bone, and Leigh Bardugo's Six of Crows duology are the basis of the novel. Alina Starkov is the narrator of Shadow & Bone. She's a teenager orphan living in Ravka, a Russia-inspired country. Her life was changed when she accidentally harnesses a power that she didn't know she needed to save her best friend.
What we don’t know, however, is whether or not this will be the final outing for Shadow and Bone. Netflix clearly believes that the show can do great things with such an early renewal. We’ll have to see how well it performs after its late April release.
We should absolutely note that a season 2 renewal isn’t yet officially confirmed by Netflix and that will likely come sometime after the premiere.
It’s not completely uncommon for Netflix shows to be renewed ahead of time ahead of their first seasons. Bridgerton was renewed long before season 1 released and just last week, What’s on Netflix reported that The Irregulars had also been greenlit for a second season although in that instance, it’s reportedly set to begin filming in the summer.
