Shadow and Bone returns for Season 2, but it won't get cameras rolling until 2022. However, production is scheduled to commence in January 2022
Shadow and Bone premiered in April 2021, after a lengthy development. Within the first four weeks of their addition to Netflix, 55 million households viewed Shadow and Bone.
Although the official renewal of season 2 was granted in June 2021, it has been quiet since.
We know that the new season will adapt Siege and Storm 2, which was published by Leigh Bardugo in 2013. There will be 8 episodes. Eric Heisserer is expected to return as showrunner/writer.
The team behind Shadow and Bone has been busy over the summer. They plan to start filming season 2 sometime in January 2022.
According to our source filming is expected to resume in Budapest between January and February 2022. Previously, reports stated that filming would begin in November.
A lot of the cast will attend RosterCon, which takes place in Paris in January 2022. This event will be held between January 22nd-23rd.
How does this affect the release date for Season 2 of Shadow and Bone
Netflix doesn't give any hint as to when the second season will be released. For guidance, let's look back at the filming of season 1, which was shot from October 2019 to February 2020. However, there were also additional shoots that took place in June 2020.
This could mean that there won't be a second season of Shadow and Bone between 2022 and 2023 due to the time difference. It's speculation, however, so be prepared to wait.
Also, Shadow and Bone has been hotly considered for a future spin-off. Emrakaya is a regular contributor to What's on Netflix. She reported that a Six of Crows-series has been viewed at Netflix.
Our big Shadow and Bone 2 Preview will be updated in the near future with this and any other Shadow and Bone information.
