If you are still wondering about the question: will there be a shazam 2? Then you must read this piece of paper!
What you should know is that Shazam 2 is already finished filming, it has now entered into the production stage.
New Line Cinema and DC chose to greenlight a sequel just days after the Zachary Levi-led Shazam! opened in theaters in April 2019. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it took a little longer to get the cameras rolling on the sequel.
However, Shazam 2 is officially named Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and finally started principal photography on May 26. As September of 2021 just began, director David F. Sandberg has confirmed that filming on the next Shazam film has wrapped.
So what will be the release date of Shazam 2—Shazam! Fury of the Gods?
It will be on June 2, 2023.
David F. Sandberg has published teasing photographs of the work being done on Shazam! on a regular basis, just as he did with the first Shazam! film. But it's been a while since I've seen Fury of the Gods. Today, though, he chose to photograph a clapboard, which has become a classic way to mark the end of a film's production. Here's what Sandberg had to say about it on Twitter:
It's straightforward, yet it works. But hold on, there's more!
David F. Sandberg tagged Shazam! on Instagram. Instead, he shared a photo from one of the sets for Fury of the Gods, which appears to be a room in a typical family devastated by heroic and/or supervillain activities.
An estimated three months of filming have now been completed, and the movie is now in post-production where it will be edited and visual effects will be added. Reshoots are becoming more typical in Hollywood blockbusters, so it's feasible that David F. Sandberg and other members of the cast and crew will be reunited at some point in the future to film some extra material. In any case, because Fury of the Gods won't be released until summer 2023, it's not like they're in a rush to finish this film
Despite the fact that Shazam! Fury of the Gods has yet to be presented in-depth, we do have a general sense of what to expect from So, instead of Billy Batson, played by Asher Angel, going into battle with the forces of evil, he'll be joined by his superpowered foster siblings, Freddy, Mary, Darla, and Eugene.
Wizard Shazam (Djimon Honsou), who was supposed to have died in the first film and will be resurrected in the sequel, will also come returned, either in a flashback, hallucination,
Hespera, Kalypso, and Rachel Zegler are all antagonistic daughters of Atlas, the ancient figure from which the Shazam heroes receive their powers.
Mark Strong confirmed to CinemaBlend in May that he will not be appearing in Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
We'll have to wait till the hypothetical Shazam! 3 to find out what happens to that plot thread.
Shazam! When Fury of the Gods opens in theaters on June 2, 2023, it will be seen what else is coming up in the DC Extended Universe by checking out our list of forthcoming DC Comics films.
As Sandberg remarked on Twitter:
Reading this while sitting on set getting ready to shoot Several of the actors have been wrapped though as we’re close to being done.
— David F. Sandberg (@ponysmasher)
Unhappily, the movie isn't finished yet. Sandberg's post, on the other hand, is encouraging because it shows that he is taking the time to make sure everything is correct Perhaps we'll hear from the director shortly.
