‘Snowpiercer’ Season 1 Netflix Release Schedule (Global & US)

Snowpiercer is now available on Netflix worldwide as an original series. Here’s the current release schedule and a little on what you need to know about the upcoming sci-fi series plus we’ll take a look at what chances it has to arrive on Netflix in the US too.

Let’s kick off with what you need to know about the new show. Yes, it’s based on the same story as the movie from Bong Joon-ho so it has high expectations. The new series is being developed by Josh Friedman who is most known for his Terminator series called The Sarah Connor Chronicle and based on the aesthetic they’re very similar in nature.

It was announced for the first time in November 2016. After years of struggle production, it is now ready to be produced in 2020.

Similar beats will be followed by the new series. It’s set in 2021 and follows a set of travelers on a train who survive on a train after the world becomes a frozen wasteland.

International Snowpiercer Netflix Releases

The first season of Snowpiercer will be available on Netflix worldwide, except China. The series will carry Netflix Original branding in every country as you can see on the show’s official Netflix page.

The first episode will be available on Netflix on May 25, followed by the second on a weekly basis. TNT will broadcast new episodes on Sunday evenings in America. They are added to Netflix around 8:30 AM GMT.

It is similar to Riverdale and Better Call Saul, which both get weekly drops right after US premieres.

Here’s the current episode release schedule. These dates may change should TNT decide to go on a week-long break. We will adjust the table accordingly.

Is Snowpiercer Season 1 on Netflix USA?

Although this is still to be confirmed, it looks like the answer could be yes based upon previous deals of similar nature.

See, Dirty John and The Good Place are first shown on Netflix US. They arrive weekly via Netflix International and later, down the track, come to Netflix US.

US streaming plans have yet to be announced which means it’s a distinct possibility that the US does get season 1 of Snowpiercer.

Our best guess as to when this is would be in 2021 possibly shortly before season 2 (see below) is due to air similar to Better Call Saul’s Netflix schedule.

Good news: The show has a bright future with season 2 in development and production. COVID-19 is the reason that production has stalled.
