Space Force, a Netflix Original Comedy that aims to replicate the success of The Office (NBC), is now available. Here’s what we know so far about season one of Space Force, when you can start watching, who’s involved, episode titles, and much much more!
Netflix, in desperate need for a big TV show, is dependent on titles such as Friends and The Office (now gone) and on buying licenses to movies like Seinfeld (coming soon to Netflix worldwide in 2021), and Community (coming on Netflix April 1, 2020). Enter Space Force.
Space Force is Netflix’s big attempt at recreating the magic of The Office, and features both Steve Carrell and Greg Daniels. Here’s what we know so far.
All episodes of Space Force Season 1 will be available on Netflix worldwide starting May 29, 2020.
Subscribers will be receiving the debut season of Steve Carrell’s Space Force at various different times throughout the day. All Netflix releases drop at Midnight Pacific Standard Time. This is why release times will be determined.
This means if you live in the US you’ll receive the latest season in the early hours of the morning, whereas Australian and New Zealand subscribers receive new titles in the evening.

In January 2019, Netflix announced Space Force as a new series. This video explains the basic premise of Space Force.
“On June 18, 2019 the Federal Government announced the creation of a 6th major division of the United States Armed Forces.
The goal of the new branch is “to defend satallites from attack” and “perform other space-related tasks” or something.
This is the story of the men and women who have to figure it out.”
Notice: The original Teaser Trailer for Space Force was removed by YouTube, but it is still available as a Tweet.
Sticking to a familiar format to The Office, it’s said Space Force is going to be filmed as a workplace sitcom although we’re not sure if there’ll be interview segments as made famous by The Office.
This series mocks President Donald Trump, who introduced the space force but wasn't very precise with his plans.
In January 2020 (partly to mock the newly announced US space force uniform) Netflix’s account for Space Force revealed the uniform for those on the show.
Netflix unveiled the first screens of the series' upcoming episodes in April 2020. Four screenshots give us an early glimpse of what to expect.
Two official trailers were released for Space Force by Netflix in April 2020 and May 2020.

Well, they’re not entirely sold. Most critics seem to think the show is buried by the weight of its cast and the concept just doesn’t allow for enough wiggle room.
Here’s how the scores are holding up on Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes thus far:
Could it be the case audiences see something that critics don’t? It’s worth noting The Office season one was met with horrid reviews but ultimately turned into something great.
The creators of The Office were involved in the creation of the Office, as the title suggests. Greg Daniels, who was the executive producer of the show and the main person responsible for adapting The Office's UK version to American audiences, is one example.
Steve Carrell has been the only cast member to date, and THR reports that his salary will be approximately $1 million per episode.
It was claimed that Katheleen Felix Hager (Veep), was involved in the production of the show. As early as June, she teased the show by tweeting at Nasa to ask for tips. Notably, too, she’ll be involved in the other project with Greg Daniels headed to Amazon named Upload. We’ll keep an eye on that production as the two will likely be closely linked in terms of personnel.
Deadline published the September 2019 news about who will be appearing in Space Force.
Cast for Space Force on Netflix
The following are some of the new cast members:
Deadline announced three additional cast members in October 2019. They are Noah Emmerich and Fred Willard. Jessica St. Clair is also included.
Mark Steger, who was most well-known for his role as a villain on Stranger Things and Hoboman in the Netflix movie Velvet Buzzsaw and Paranormal Activity, will be appearing on January 20, 2020. Mark Steger will be playing the role of “Strange Alien”.
We now know, thanks to the first screenshots, that Lisa Kudrow will be joining the cast in April 2020. She’s, of course, famous for her stint on Friends but recently appeared in Grace & Frankie too.
In April 2020, we also heard that Jane Lynch would be appearing on Glee.
We received a few more casting announcements in May 2020. These included Patrick Warburton, who is best known for (via Netflix anyway) his roles in A Series of Unfortunate Events as well as Diedrich Bader.
Space Force will have 10 episodes. We still don’t know the episode titles, however.

It’s worth noting that all the names involved in the Netflix project also have projects with other streaming providers too.
Greg Daniels recently published his Amazon Prime series, Upload. Most people agree that the series was a huge success. However, Upload is considered to be the superior show in terms of critics.
Steve Carrell stars in The Morning Show, a sitcom drama on Apple TV+. It premiered as part the Apple TV+ launch line-up and was commissioned for another season.
Finally, we’ll leave you with a small taster given that Steve Carrell recently played the role of a NASA astronaut on an SNL episode.
