‘The Netflix Afterparty’ Cobra Kai Special Coming to Netflix on January 2nd

Netflix announced that Cobra Kai's third season has been moved to Netflix on January 1, 2019. The date also has been set for The Netflix Afterparty, which will air the first episode after the best-of special added to Netflix worldwide in December 2020. Here’s what you need to know.

In case you’re unaware, The Netflix Afterparty is a new variety/talk show series that debuted on December 13th. The hosts are London Hughes, Fortune Feimster and David Spade. They also interview guests and perform bits and mashups. The first episode was ordered in November 2020. It has received 18 episodes.

It’s fair to say the first title in the new “first-of-its-kind” weekly comedy panel show didn’t exactly go down a treat. According to IMDb, however, this title only received a rating of 5.1/10 by 58 reviews. The majority of reviewers compare the series to David Spade’s Lights Out show (which is fair given it’s produced by the same company as Netflix’s new version).

After Cobra Kai's third season, which was initially scheduled for January 8, the Cobra Kai edition is now available on Netflix.

So far, we know Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, and Xolo Maridueña will feature in person on the show (with both interviews and skits) whereas William Zabka and Ralph Macchio will be interviewed remotely.

Below is a teaser of the new episode, which will be available in its entirety on January 2, 2019.

Cobra Kai has become one of Netflix’s hottest properties taking over the world by storm when the first two seasons (originally on YouTube Premium) joined Netflix over the summer. The series has been ordered by Netflix for a fourth season, which will begin production in 2021.
