The second season of this Australian/New Zealand series will return to Netflix on August 2020. There will also be more episodes inspired by Monkey. With a few exceptions, The New Legends of Monkey will be available on Netflix worldwide on August 7, 2020.
This series is targeted at teens and children (hence the trailers on Netflix Futures). It is partially inspired by the Japanese show Monkey, which is itself based on the Chinese novel Journey to the West.
Netflix released the first season without much fanfare in April 2018. It was available in the US, UK and other countries. Other regions will follow sporadically. The first season dropped with 10 episodes. Season 2 will likely have 10 episodes.
Last update on the series was that TVNZ and ABC had agreed to a second season. Filming began in September 2019.
Netflix will most likely get season 2 of this series for kids on August 7, 2020. The United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States are all included. To see if it’s going to be available in your region, check the official page on Netflix.
The series won’t be on Netflix in either Australia or New Zealand, at least in August. Season 1 was released on Netflix in Australia and New Zealand in January 2019, approximately nine months after it arrived in the USA.
If we’re to assume Netflix AU and NZ will get the series in a similar manner for season 2, we’re currently predicting that both regions will get the new season between April and June 2021.
Beyond the release, we don’t yet know too much else about season 2. We have not seen a trailer for season 2, nor a synopsis of the second season. Hopefully, we’ll hear more in due course and we’ll keep you updated right here.
