Netflix's Christmas treat this year? The sequel to The Princess Switch, which was released on Netflix November 16, 2018. Two years later, it is expected that the sequel will arrive in November 2020. Here’s what we know.
Some of you might know that The Princess Switch is part of the Netflix Christmas Universe, which includes A Christmas Prince and a trio of movies called A Christmas Prince.
Mike Rohl will be returning as director of the sequel, with Vanessa Hudgens returning to her dual roles of Lady Margaret and Stacy De Novo.
Suanne Braun will be back as Mrs. Donatelli, and Mark Fleischmann will also return to Frank De Luca.
We know very little about Lachlan Nieboer, who is best known for Charlie Countrymen. He’s set to play the role of Antonio Rossi.
However, the sequel has been replaced by its author. Terry Frewer will be replaced by Alan Ari Lazar.
Here’s what you can expect from the sequel:
“When Duchess Margaret unexpectedly inherits the throne to Montenaro and hits a rough patch with Kevin, it’s up to her double Stacy to save the day before a new lookalike, party girl Fiona foils their plans.”
Soon after the original movie was released, the sequel began production. Reports continue into 2020. IMDbPro reported that the film went into post production on February 25, 2020, having begun filming December 17, 2019.
Filming for the sequel reportedly took place predominantly in Edinburgh, Scotland with other reports that some more filming took place down the road in Glasgow, Scotland too.
