‘The Selection’ Netflix Movie: What We Know So Far

The Selection, a movie adaptation of Kiera's romance novel is something to watch out for on Netflix. Here's everything we know regarding The Selection so far, such as production status, who was involved and more .

It's been a decade since the first attempts to adapt the book failed. The CW tried with each pilot twice in 2012 and 2013, but they failed to receive full series orders. After the rights had been transferred to Warner Brothers, they were now with Netflix.

Variety broke the news about The Selection's move to Netflix in April 2020. Along with the news, Kiera Cassiss posted personal reflections on The Selection via her blog in April 2020. Her only comment was "things are looking good !".". Kiera answered many questions already asked by fans with the pre-emptive answer: "Do I know anything regarding casting?" No! Can I guess when it will be released? Also, no. But added "Am I too excited? YES!".

Movie will depict the same events as the book, which pits 35 women against one another for a chance at living among the rich.

The Selection is available on Netflix.

Haifaa Al Mansour (a Saudi-Arabian director who was also the first in the region), is the main talent in this project. He's best known for Wadjda, but also has a hand in Nappily Ever After, and directed on The Society, which unfortunately got cancelled.

Katie Lovejoy is the filmmaker behind this movie. She's probably most well-known for her work on To All The Boys 2, which was a Netflix romance movie.

Pouya Shahbazian and Alison Greenspan are among the producers of the movie.

David Andrew MacMillan is the sound technician attached to the project.

Which actors will you see in The Selection, a Netflix series?

This is unfortunately still not known.

An ongoing campaign by fans is underway to learn more about the movie and the cast.

An account on social media with close to 80k users has launched a campaign for casting the cast. Netflix eventually responded to it.

Lucas of The Selection Brazil explained why their movie campaign is so crucial to him. We talked to Lucas because he said the book was funny' and romantic. His wish is for the movie to be a bit more about the rebellious events, explaining that "but it also has an intimate side." Questions about government, rebel attacks and other such things.

The Selection: Why could there be more sequels

Once the first movie has been released, and if it is successful, there may be many more movies to come from Netflix. These books have been referred to as Happily Ever After.
