The global premiere of The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon's Judgment is available on Netflix. The fifth season named The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon’s Judgment has almost finished its broadcast in Japan and will be arriving on Netflix sooner than expected. Here’s what we know about season 5 of The Seven Deadly Sins so far including what we can expect and whether the animation direction has changed from series four.
The Seven Deadly Sins, a Netflix Original licensed anime series, is based on Nakaba Suzuki's manga. The franchise is loved by a loyal following, having sold more than 37 million copies worldwide. Studio Deen has taken over animation of the studio that was previously owned by A-1 Pictures.
Just like the fourth season, we’d like to address that we’re listing this season as the fifth as we’re following the way Netflix has formatted the Original. We understand that the ‘second season’ was a handful of OVA episodes.
We have completely been disappointed by The Seven Deadly Sins Season 5 on Netflix, which will be available Monday, June 28, 2021.
If you go to the Coming Soon page on Netflix, your phone will display The Seven Deadly Sins Season 5.
In the past, Netflix has been infamous for its internationally licensed anime landing in “Netflix Jail.” This term coined by the anime community refers to any of the anime licensed by Netflix that is the first broadcast in Japan, only to arrive on the streaming service several months later. The Seven Deadly Sins has fallen victim to “Netflix Jail” in the past, so bringing the release date further forward than anyone expected just goes to show that Netflix is starting to listen to the anime community.
There’s a lot to unpack as we arrive at what should be the final season of The Seven Deadly Sins.
In August 2020, it was revealed that the new season would be titled “The Seven Deadly Sins: The Judgment of Anger”.
In August also, The Seven Deadly Sins' first ever look at Season 5 was made public.
The news posting, which was attached to the artwork, offered this synopsis of the next season.
“Meliodas, Elizabeth, Hawk, Dianne, Van, King, Gowther, Merlin, and Escanor are standing against the flames, a mighty enemy, and a visual depicting the members of the Seven Deadly Sins confronting their destiny.”
The fourth season of anime ended at chapter 267 in the manga. There are 346 chapters in the manga, leaving only 79 for the anime.
In that time, there’s still a large amount of story to cover.
Ban, an immortal member of the Seven Deadly Sins other than Meliodas has the best chance to survive purgatory.
Ban wants to locate the Melodias that we love and know, and bring them home to Brittonia. However, time moves differently in Purgatory. How many centuries, decades or millennia are needed to find the Meliodas for Ban?
Ban is already one the most powerful characters in the series. Therefore, spending many years in purgatory will likely make him stronger.
In Britannia, however, there is a new alliance between the Goddess Clan and Fairy Clan and Giant Clan. This kickstarts a second holy conflict with the aim of destroying the Demon Clan.
Estarossa of the Demon Clan has kidnapped Elizabeth, so it’s up to the united forces of the Stigma Alliance to stop him and rescue the princess.
Love commands have a terrible past. Soon all that will be revealed about it.
Meliodas' body continues to emerge from the giant egg that contains it. When this hatches, Meliodas will be even more powerful and darkened. With the commandments, he’s absorbed, Meliodas won’t be far away from claiming himself as the new Demon King of the Demon Clan.
We briefly mentioned that there are very few sources left for the manga. With only 79 chapters to go, it wouldn’t be beyond expectation for the anime to finish at five seasons.
The fourth season covered only 31 chapters, and so we might see an anime extended to the sixth season.
Fans needn’t worry, there’s tons of story, fights, and plot twists etched into the remaining 79 chapters of The Seven Deadly Sins, so there’s plenty to keep you entertained.
We won’t reveal any spoilers here but a sequel manga is being planned, aptly named The Seven Deadly Sins: The Four Knights of the Apocalypse. Nakaba Suzuki may write the sixth season.
The significant decline in animation quality was one of the topics most discussed during the fourth season.
It’s no secret that the production of The Seven Deadly Sins was moved away from A-1 Pictures to Studio Deen. Studio Deen contracted South Korean animation studio Marvy Jack to create the animation. This is a lesser-known fact.
These results are highly unusual and far from inspiring.
Studio Deen was not able to respond to the fans' outcry. However, they have yet comment whether or not Studio Deen will handle season 5.
Do you look forward to The Seven Deadly Sins Season 5 being released on Netflix?
