The Trial of the Chicago 7 is an upcoming Netflix Original legal-drama based on the real-life case of the ‘Chicago Seven’. Aaron Sorkin directs the historic-drama, which could make it one of the top Originals and even a contender for an Oscar.
Since 2007, Aaron Sorkin, the director of the film's screenplay, has been plagued by delays. Sorkin originally wanted Steven Spielberg to direct the movie, but Speilberg was forced out by the strike at the Writers Guild of America in 2007.
Spielberg continued to direct The Trial of the Chicago 7 and Sorkin assumed the director's chair.

The Trial of the Chicago 7 will be available on Netflix starting Friday October 16, 2020.
Upon release, the legal-drama will also be streamable on Netflix worldwide.
Paramount Pictures originally intended to distribute the film in theatres. However, due to the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic the rights were sold to Netflix.
