Netflix’s The Witcher is reportedly coming to Netflix in December 2019 according to several sources. Here’s what we know about the release date and recap some of the recent news.

The Witcher will be the most popular fall/winter 2019 Netflix release, with The Crown not far behind. It is based on both the videogame and book series. We’ve known for some time that the series was scheduled for late 2019 with filming wrapping up just recently confirming said suspicions.

Recapped, a NSFW blog that tracks the shows due to the many NSFW scenes set for the show's appearance, first reported the rumor on May 12, 2019. The news was confirmed by several casting announcements.

Now thanks to a spot from Redanian Intelligence, a blog dedicated to covering all the goings on with The Witcher series on Netflix, we’re now expecting that season 1 of The Witcher will be dropping on Netflix on December 20th, 2019.

This release date is logical, considering that Netflix last year released Black Mirror on the Friday before Christmas. And this year, The Witcher will become its Christmas flagship show.

Another fan account for the show seems to also indicate that it will be released in December.

The Witcher, which features a large cast and big-budget set pieces is Netflix's new flagship show. It could rival Game of Thrones.

Netflix is yet to announce when The Witcher Season 1 will be available on Netflix. The Netflix media site still indicates a 2019 release date although we’ve since heard it’s going to release in Q4 thanks to a Deadline report but added that “Netflix also revealed that The Witcher was coming in the last three months of the year.”.

Already rumors of another season are swirling with Netflix, who is very pleased with the success of the original season.
