Netflix is adding more Christmas Originals to its library for 2019, but there's still time to find originals that don't relate to Christmas. The romantic drama Virgin River will be streaming on Netflix in December. You can find everything about Virgin River on our website, including its cast and trailer as well as the Netflix release date.
Virgin River, a Netflix Original Drama Series, is based on Robyn Carr's Virgin River novels. Netflix has had a distinct lack of Hallmark-Esque programming in its line up of Originals, and considering the popularity of such titles like Heartland and Anne With an E, its surprising that Netflix hasn’t already tapped into that market. Virgin River is a good option for those who are looking to indulge in romance-drama.
Reel World Management was responsible for Virgin River's production. They are well-known for their Christmas titles distribution. Robyn Carr (novelist), was the author of Virgin River. She has been awarded a writing credit. Sue Tenney (series creator) and Jackson Rock, Good Witch, were the remaining writers.
Deadline has provided the following summary:
Centers around Melinda Monroe, who answers an ad to work as a nurse practitioner in the remote California town of Virgin River and soon discovers that small-town living isn’t quite as simple as she expected and that she must learn to heal herself before she can truly make Virgin River her home.
At the time of writing, it hasn’t been confirmed which of the twenty books in the Virgin River series will be covered. Considering the first book has over 400 pages alone, that’s a lot of stories for the television series to cover.

There will be ten episodes in the first season.
Netflix did not confirm the episodes' run-times at the time this article was written. Considering the time it took to film, we’d expect each episode of Virgin River to be of least an hour long.
Most new Originals will arrive in 4K. We’d make a surefire bet that Virgin River will be available to stream in 4K.

Virgin River, according to IMDb's seasons listing, will receive a second season.
Considering the Virgin River book franchise consists of 20 books, it would make sense to see more than one season.
