Babylon Berlin is coming back for its third season in early 2020 and if you’re looking for when it’ll be releasing on Netflix or any other details regarding season 3 of Babylon Berlin, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s the latest on the German series.
We must first reiterate the fact that, although Babylon Berlin has been promoted as a Netflix Original, it is actually only licensed by Netflix as an Original.
This drama is a period thriller series that currently has 2 seasons and can be viewed on Netflix. It's about Berlin, Germany's capital. The series centers on the return of a police commissioner to Berlin to dismantle an organized crime syndicate.
Both Seasons 1 & 2 were released in Germany in the latter half of 2017. They came to Netflix in January 2018 (January 30th) and February 23rd 2019, respectively.
Sky Deutschland will release Season 3 of Babylon Berlin on January 24, 2020. However, a premier was held in December.
Season 3 will release 12 episodes. Henk Handloegten and Achim von Borries return as directors and writers. The new season is based on the novel which is translated as “The Mute Death” taking place 10 months after season 2.
Season 3 will also see the addition of new actresses and actors.
Only three regions will likely get the third season and they’re the ones currently carrying seasons 1 and 2. This includes Netflix USA, Canada, and Australia.
No release date has yet been set for Netflix. We do know that the series isn’t due to release weekly meaning we’ll likely get all the episodes at once.
Two months after wrapping the series, Season 1 was released on Netflix. If that replicates for season 3, we’d see it added to Netflix at some point in summer 2020.
The worst case scenario would be for the second season to arrive a little over a year after it's finale. If that’s the case, we won’t see the title added until 2021.
We’ll update this post as soon as we know more about the Netflix release date for Babylon Berlin season 3.
Unfortunately, Babylon Berlin is not available in any area where Sky has an entity. That means you’ll have to wait until it airs on Sky TV in the United Kingdom or stream via its NowTV service.
Absolutely. It’s already been planned that more episodes are on the way for Babylon Berlin and we’ll cover that season once season 3 has released.
