Solo: A Star Wars Story is out of cinemas now and will soon be available on Netflix. Here’s an updated guide to when you’ll find Solo: A Star Wars Story streaming on Netflix.
Star Wars was acquired by Disney in 2005. It began to release a Star Wars film every year. We’ve seen three released under the Disney so far. Every other year, they release a numbered entry and on the other year they release a ‘Star Wars Story’. Here’s what the release schedule looks like so far for the Star Wars movies under Disney.
Solo: A Star Wars Story premiered earlier this year to worldwide audiences. It was released in theatres between April 2018 and May 2018, depending on your location.
2016 saw Rogue One released. It is currently streaming on Netflix US under the Disney contract. It also means we’ll see the release of The Last Jedi over the summer.
Netflix confirmed Solo's arrival on Netflix in January 2019, as predicted. It will be available on Netflix in January 2019. The movie joins Ant-Man 2 and The Incredibles 2 as Disney films.
It’s expected that Solo: A Star Wars movie to be the final Star Wars movie released by Disney on Netflix before it removes its library in favour of its own service.
If you have a Netflix DVD subscription, the movie was made available during October 2018.
Netflix Canada can expect the movie to release around the same time as the US and it’s not affected by the same contract as the US so you can expect it to stick around for some time.
We’re not entirely sure whether the UK will be getting the new Star Wars story. Sky usually acquires the streaming rights immediately and drops them approximately 2 years later. Solo will be available on Netflix UK in 2020, if Netflix UK acquires Rogue One.
If you love Star Wars, Netflix isn’t the best home for the titles but many Star Wars movies are on Netflix as we’ve written in our guide.
