When will ‘The Vampire Diaries’ & ‘The Originals’ Leave Netflix?

The Originals and The Vampire Diaries are streaming in their entirety on Netflix USA. A Netflix user also asked this week when they expect them to leave Netflix.

Legacies is also on Netflix (but only in the United States) and will continue being on Netflix as it’s covered by the old deal Netflix had with The CW where all of its output would come to Netflix. The third season of Legacies is coming to Netflix US in 2021.

What date will The Vampire Diaries be removed from Netflix?

The countdown began to the day that The Vampire Diaries' final season was uploaded to Netflix.

Now, although we’ve not heard officially from either Warner Brothers Television on Netflix when this will be, Netflix has lost The CW titles in a manner that makes the removal date predictable.

The CW's shows are available on Netflix throughout the life of the series plus the five-year period following.

The Vampire Diaries' eighth season was released in March 2017. Therefore, we anticipate that seasons 1-8 will be removed from Netflix by March 2022.

Netflix UK already lost The Vampire Diaries, with 8 episodes ending in November 2020.

What date will The Originals go off Netflix?

The Originals was a spinoff of The Vampire Diaries. They ran in tandem with the mothership shows between 2013-2018.

Using the same prediction method as above, we’re currently expecting The Originals seasons 1-5 leave Netflix US in August 2023.

Netflix UK still has The Originals, but it is likely to be removed in the very near future.

These shows will end up where? Almost certainly they’ll land in full on HBO Max which is where the majority of The CW shows have winded up after having left Netflix. It’s also where most new shows from the network land too.
