The Irishman is due out in several weeks on Netflix globally but if you’re like us, you’re probably wanting to give the movie a watch on the big screen. For those in the United Kingdom, you’re quite limited in where you can watch. Here’s your full UK guide to where you can watch The Irishman in cinemas in November 2019.

The fact that you’re on this article means you’re probably familiar with the upcoming Martin Scorsese’ movie but just in case you need a brief reminder, here’s a recap. The upcoming movie is one of Netflix’s best shots at winning an Oscar for best picture. It will be available on Netflix in America and other countries the day prior to Thanksgiving.

Which cinemas are showing The Irishman?

Curzon and Everyman are the only cinemas showing The Irishman in the United Kingdom. The Irishman is shown in only two cinema chains, Curzon and Everyman. The remainder are independent theaters.

London offers the largest selection, with BFI Southbank the obvious choice. This is because of its historical cinema history. The movie is currently being shown in 14 London cinemas.

The movie is shown in most cinemas starting on November 15, which will be a Friday and ending on November 21, which is Thursday. You should check the specific cinema for exact viewing times.

Why aren’t big chain cinemas running The Irishman?

You may notice that Odeon cinemas, Vue cinemas, and Cineworld cinemas aren’t showing The Irishman. We don’t fully know the reasons for this but it’s probably to do with Netflix’s ongoing discussion around how it does its cinema releases. Major theater chains in the US have rejected Netflix due to the small window for release.

That’s likely the same reason why your Odeons, Vues, and Cineworld’s just aren’t showing the movie.

Major cities will also be missing The Irishman. For example, where What’s on Netflix is based in Norwich will not be screening The Irishman because all the local cinemas are chains that aren’t going to be showing the movie.
