After the animation adaptation, Dr. Stone's popularity shot up to the top. It would seem that Netflix could stream this popular Japanese anime. Sadly, this isn’t the case and Dr. Stone isn’t on Netflix. We’ll be discussing below why Dr. Stone isn’t on Netflix and where you can stream the anime.
Dr. Stone, an animated Japanese adventure series that is based on RiichiroInagaki's manga "Dr. Stone", was created by RiichiroInagaki. Weekly Shonen Jump published the manga serialization in March 2017. It didn’t take long before the popularity of the series exploded, leading to an anime adaptation. The series was produced by TMS Entertainment and 8PAN. Both studios previously collaborated on animation adaptations of Yowamushi Pedal, Fruit Baskets and Yowamushi Pedal.
Taiju Oki, a high school student like most students, is in love with science and is obsessed by Senku Isigami. Taiju tries to tell Yuzuriha his feelings, but disaster strikes. A blinding flashed of light is seen all over the globe and it causes Taiju to lose control. Taiju and Senku managed to stay conscious throughout 3700 years of being trapped in stone.
Netflix doesn’t have the license to stream episodes of Dr. Stone. Although Netflix has added some great new content this year, they are unable to match the quality of streaming anime services like FUNimation or Crunchyroll.
Netflix does not have international distribution agreements for anime titles. This has been the cause of major frustration for subscribers that anime titles aren’t simulcast. Episodes of Dr. Stone were still being aired on a weekly basis at the time this article was written.
If you’re wanting to stream Dr. Stone you will instead need a subscription to Crunchyroll or FUNimation.
English-language dub episodes can be streamed on FUNimation. English-language subbed episodes can be viewed on Crunchyroll.
Japan is the only country streaming Dr. Stone. It's not surprising that Netflix Japan regularly receives the most recent anime titles.
Subscribers in the United Kingdom, like the United States of America, will require a subscription for FUNimation and Crunchyroll.
