Netflix now has the interactive Kimmy Schmidt special, although it is not available everywhere. The interactive special was only available in a few countries, even though it is part of the main series. Here’s what we know.
Netflix's comedy series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt features Jane Krakowski, Ellie Kemper and Titussburgess. It aired for four seasons.
Unbreakable was first announced in 2018. It eventually became the interactive special that we see today.
We reached out to Netflix to see what’s going on with the global distribution who referred us to their help page.
This note was found for Kimmy Schmidt's Unbreakable Kimmy:
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend is currently available in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and United States.
Our guess, and it is just a guess, is that the dubs haven’t been completed despite the fact subtitles are available. The interactive special only has an English version, whereas the main series offers five alternate audio tracks, including audio description.
We had an exchange on Twitter with customer services who we asked for a specific reason and unfortunately they weren’t able to provide one. However, you could infer from their response that it’s a possibility that it could come available in the future.
Update: Netflix informed the viewer after the publication of this article that dubbing was the reason that the interactive special had not yet been uploaded to Netflix. Below is the reply.
The special was then made available to us in the following weeks. We received another follow-up.
We’ll keep you updated as and when we hear more regarding a global rollout for the interactive special but for now, unfortunately, you’re just going to have to sit tight.
