Will ‘Modern Family’ Come to Netflix in 2018?

Is Modern Family on Netflix and if it’s not, will it be coming to Netflix in 2018? We’ve answered this question every year for the past three years and unfortunately, for most countries, it won’t be coming to Netflix.

While Netflix is involved in many comedy sitcoms, Modern Family remains the most popular. The series has been on the air since 2009 and is currently in its ninth season. This family comedy, which is based on three families that are related, was filmed using a mockumentary format. It still has life.

Over the past nine years, we’ve seen the show and the kids grow up and it still ranks among the best grossing TV shows on television right now. Licensing is therefore difficult to obtain.

If you have been a Netflix member for a while, then you might recall that Netflix once carried Modern Family. They lost their license, along with many other ABC programs, several years ago.

Hulu is owned by Disney and ABC. It is currently the only way to stream past episodes as well as current Modern Family episodes in America. If you wish to see older episodes, Fox and USA Network both have syndication.

The series was shopped to multiple outlets in the United Kingdom but unfortunately, Netflix didn’t pick it up. Instead, the series will be streamed by NowTV owned Sky.

Netflix Regions that Stream Modern Family

It’s not all doom and gloom though. Netflix currently streams the show in some other countries. Netflix is streaming Modern Family in France, Germany and the Netherlands. Many only have season one to four, and get new episodes every April.

Netflix offers alternatives to the modern family

Netflix isn’t short of a good sitcom. Fans of Modern Family will enjoy The Ranch, F for Family, Grace and Frankie and other originals. If it’s the mockumentary aspect you like, try Ricky Gervais’s Derek which has two seasons plus a special.

Of course, NBC’s comedy lineup still remains on Netflix in most regions including the likes of Parks and Recreation, The Office and The Good Place.
